About Peace & Solidarity
WCRC's
Peace and Solidarity Program raises the voices of women of color in
opposition to war and militarism.
War, militarism and state violence distort and destroy women's lives
worldwide. Every woman in the US is affected. Every woman suffers from
the massive deformation of the national budget - a budget that
magically transforms our tax dollars into fabulous profits for defense
contractors, but comes up short for education, childcare and
healthcare.
All too often the US government initiates, aggravates or funds
military adventures that contribute to the poverty, insecurity and
violence that women experience worldwide.
Women in the U.S. have a special responsibility to the women of the
world, especially to our sisters in the global south, to check the
national impulse toward military aggression. To speak out and organize
for peace and human security. To oppose the logic and consequences of
corporate globalization. And to develop relations of sisterhood and
solidarity with women organizing for human rights and security in other
regions of the world.
WCRC's Peace and Solidarity Program focuses on the gender and race
dimensions of war, militarism and empire building. WCRC educates and
mobilizes women of color as participants and leaders in the global
effort to build a world at peace.
