Runway Peace Project is a multi-media pro-peace fashion show
organizing kit. Hundreds of groups all over the nation have organized
fashion shows for diverse audiences in their own communities.
Producing a fashion show is a fun and engaging way to examine the
powerful influence of U.S. militarism on popular culture.
WCRC hosted a "Fashion
Resistance to Militarism" fashion show in May 2005 in Oakland, CA that was wildly popular. The great energy from the
show was transformed into the Runway Peace Project organizing kit.
Runway Peace Project includes:
• Fashion Resistance to Militarism DVD: A 10-min documentary that asks the question: What's so hip about wearing camo?...and uncovers some fascinating answers.
• Create Your Own Fashion Show! CD: A step-by-step guide on how to organize and anti-war fashion show.
• The 411: What Every Girl Should Know (about militarism): The facts and stats on how women and youth of color are impacted by military recruitment and service.

"Runway
Peace Project is one of the most original, lively - and yes, hip - ways
possible to stimulate a candid, inclusive conversation about how
militarism threads its ways through our everyday lives." -Cynthia Enloe, author of "The Curious Feminist"
